Recreating Relationship Milestones
Take a walk down memory lane by celebrating the special moments in your relationship.

Rekindle that lost spark by going back to where it all began.

Every couple has a story that’s unique to them. It’s the little moments, like the time you first held hands or had your first kiss, that build the foundation for your great love story. These small but significant events are rarely celebrated once they’re replaced by more honored events, such as your wedding anniversary, but they’re just as special and important to remember.

"Recreating special moments you’ve shared together in the past can strengthen your relationship because it allows you to pause and reflect on what has come before and what may lie ahead," says Kim Hughes, editor-in-chief of LavaLife.com’s Click Magazine.

That’s why planning a day dedicated to remembering the milestones that built your relationship is not only sweet, but can strengthen your bond. Create a special date that celebrates the significant events in your relationship by recreating these three benchmark moments:

1. The first time you met. Did you meet at a concert? Buy tickets to the same band you first rocked out together to. Did you meet at a coffee shop? Make a special stop at the same java hut after a romantic dinner for two. Even if your first time meeting was drunkenly hitting on each other at a bar, grab a stool at the same pub and reminisce about your embarrassing pick-up lines. It might not be romantic, but it will definitely be fun.

2. Your first date. Whether it was a romantic dinner, a scary movie or a round of miniature golf, revisit the places you nervously flirted with each other on your first date. If it was at a restaurant, reserve the same table. If it was a night at the movie theatre, rent the first movie you ever saw together and plan a special night at home.

3. Your first intimate moments. Do you remember where you were the first time you held hands? What about the first place you kissed? Revisit the same spots or at least try to recreate them—where you shared your first intimate moments.

Whether you plan a date that recreates one relationship milestone or many, you’re bound to respark some old loving feelings and remind yourselves just how far you’ve come together.

"It’s a reminder that sometimes the littlest things can have the biggest impact," says Hughes.
