Winemaker Steven Kent Mirassou’s Lineage is the realization of his personal mission: to create one of the best single Bordeaux-style wines—not just in Livermore Valley—but in the entire world. Steven, a sixth generation member of America’s oldest winemaking family, was an early proponent for growing noble Bordeaux varieties in Livermore Valley. He started the winery in 1996, and today, The Steven Kent Winery is a standard-bearer for the region, crafting small lot vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux grape varieties.

As a tribute to his own ancestors and all who love beautiful wine, Steven crafts Lineage, a classic blend of the five basic red Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec, all grown in the Ghielmetti Estate Vineyard, in upper Livermore Valley. He chooses only a handful of barrels—those that show truly superior potential.

The inaugural release of the 2007 Lineage was a brilliant effort, acclaimed by Wine Spectator as "one of the best wines ever from Livermore Valley."

Subsequent vintages have received the same high acclaim. The 2010 Lineage, lauded for its grace and finesse, was awarded 94 points by Wine Spectator with the praise, "About as good as California Cabernet gets from an underappreciated region." Wine Enthusiast also gave the 2010 vintage 94 points, saying "Layered in coffee and herbal cassis, and finely structured, it is an elegant, herbal kissed, slightly coy wine."

"The great intensity of flavor, the way the wine pairs with food, the sense memory it brings up, the way it helps you overcome the travails of the day … A beautiful wine puts a little shine on everything and everyone you see."
