Adam and Sara
Adam Stipp proposed to his then girlfriend in 2005, Sara Buck, via a Nintendo GameCube game, Animal Crossing. With the help of his character in the game, he delivered a note asking for Sara’s hand. With such a novel beginning, how's it been since?

SARA
My first year of marriage has taught me…
(1) I am the worrier when it comes to money. My husband has helped me realize that while budgeting and saving are very important, so is rewarding yourself every now and then with a spontaneous date or long-awaited purchase.

(2) To always tell my husband how much I love him before I go to bed. Never go to sleep angry, because you don’t know if you will have the chance to apologize in the morning.

(3) To take time to look sexy every day, so he doesn’t have a reason to look elsewhere.

(4) Since I get home a little earlier than my husband, I usually spend that time relaxing or getting caught up around the house. I realized it is very important to give him a kiss and ask him about his day as soon as he walks in the door, even if that means I have to tear myself away from my favorite television show.

(5) To appreciate my husband’s help around the house, even when it isn’t done exactly like I would have done it.

(6) To make time for going on dates! Enjoy that spur-of-the-moment date where you can forget your daily stress and simply enjoy one another’s company.

(7) To spend time doing things that my husband loves to do, even if I may not be into it as much as he is. My husband loves playing video games, and I know he gets a kick out of watching me attempt to beat him at his favorite game.

(8) To send sweet e-mails or call him for no reason other than to just let him know how much he means to me.

(9) To keep my priorities straight. God and family should always come before anything else.

(10) To make time to hang out with my girlfriends. My husband will always be my closest friend and confidante, but it is nice to have a night out with the girls once in a while.

My first year of marriage has taught me:
(1) To not be so carefree with my money. There are things in the future we will want to have saved money for.

(2) That she loves a random gift or date when she is least expecting it.

(3) To always tell my wife that the food she cooked tastes great even if she doesn’t cook it the way my mom does!

(4) To appreciate all of the housework that she does.

(5)To understand that what I want to watch on TV (or play) isn’t always what she wants.

(6) That she isn’t always going to look like she did on our first couple of dates.

(7) That arguments happen, but keeping your cool and not holding grudges are two important guidelines.

(8) To make time to listen to everything that happened in her busy day.

(9) To cuddle with her while watching TV or a movie—she still really likes this!

(10) To always tell her that she is most beautiful woman wherever we are.
